Hot-Swap Bay
A hot-swap bay lets you pull and replace a drive while the NAS runs, using tool-less caddies with per-bay activity LEDs. It is how you replace a failed drive and let the array rebuild without downtime — a defining feature of a real NAS versus a repurposed PC.
